All the fun of the Fair?

Last week GLASTONBURY 2011 this week- uh- well- Porth Carnival.

Now I must admit- I didn't even grace Hannah Street this year- but I can't imagine Porth Carnival has improved in the last 4 years of its history!

Why RCT put money into an event that is really all talk and no trousers is beyond...while the carnivals parade itself can be a little bit of a vibrant promenade the market stalls themself are, well, a lot like the Irish housing market- down and out.

The "carnival" (if indeed it can be called that) had none of the charm of former years-no dressed up shop attendants with their themed window display competition, no TAB choir, no Porth Junior Choir (due to shoddy organisation on the councils half) and certainly no Derek Brockway.
Its no surprise to see- Porths getting tired of the carnivals.
But what Porth did have to offer was a lack luster fun fair, an alleged flower show and car show an art exhibition (or craft stall to us valley dummies) and "Street Entertainment"- which undoubtedly would have included some idiot dressed as a clown shooting silly string- nice work on cleaning up the streets RCT.

You can probably tell that I'm really not into the Porth Carnival- but what I do appreciate is the time spent by child dance prodigies and the like who wanted to spend a sunny day with their community.

This is one journo saying- close the gateway on yearly Carnivals RCT.
